Basketball Recap: Marceline Comes Up Short

Marceline was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 20th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 54-38 bruising from the Meadville Eagles. The Tigers were probably out for revenge after losing 62-51 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Meadville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Donivan Schreckhise, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 16 points and six steals. Those six steals gave Schreckhise a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Dennis, who posted 12 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Marceline's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Meadville, they moved to 6-6 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Marceline will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Westran at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. As for Meadville, they will take on Bevier at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
