Football Recap: Jackson Lawver Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Morehead

There's no place like home for Providence Grove, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They never let the Morehead Panthers get on the board and left with a 23-0 victory on Friday. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Patriots just coasted through the last quarter.

Providence Grove's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jackson Lawver, who rushed for 59 yards, and also threw for 85 yards and one touchdown. Another big playmaker for the Patriots was Andrew Thomas, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Thomas, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

The win got Providence Grove back to even at 1-1. As for Morehead, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Providence Grove will square off against Southwestern Randolph at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Morehead, they will face off against Cummings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
