Preview: Franklin Academy Cougars vs. Sharkey Issaquena Academy Confederates
The Franklin Academy Cougars will face off against the Sharkey Issaquena Academy Confederates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Franklin Academy never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Kemper Academy last Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Rams 40-6 at home.
Franklin Academy relied on the efforts of Kyler Roberts, who threw for 279 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 passes, and Addison Spradling, who gained 175 total yards and four touchdowns. Cade Ingram also helped out as he racked up 124 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Sharkey Issaquena Academy is ranked highly in their home state, and two weeks ago they took on another highly ranked team in the form of River Oaks. Sharkey Issaquena Academy didn't even let River Oaks onto the board and left with a 36-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Sharkey Issaquena Academy.
Sharkey Issaquena Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Corderrius Jackson out in front who rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Franklin Academy to 6-5 and Sharkey Issaquena Academy to 9-1.
Everything came up roses for Franklin Academy against Sharkey Issaquena Academy when the teams last played back in September of 2016 as the squad secured a 76-38 victory.
