Baseball Game Preview: Hughesville Spartans vs. Central Columbia Bluejays

The Hughesville Spartans will face off against the Central Columbia Bluejays at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Hughesville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Hughesville took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They came out on top against Tunkhannock by a score of 6-1.

Nathan Bieber tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Wynter Fogelmen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Wetzel, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Central Columbia owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Bloomsburg. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bluejays.

Hughesville pushed their record up to 9-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Central Columbia, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.
