Recap: North Callaway Thunderbirds vs. South Callaway Bulldogs

The North Callaway Thunderbirds pushed their score all the way to 65 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 73-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Callaway. While losing is never fun, North Callaway can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 383rd, while South Callaway is ranked 160th).

Several Thunderbirds players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sam Pezold, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds. The game was Pezold's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isiah Craighead, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.

North Callaway are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7. As for South Callaway, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Callaway will take on New Bloomfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully New Bloomfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Thursday. As for South Callaway, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tuscumbia at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Tuscumbia is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
