Baseball Game Preview: Green Bobcats vs. Fairview Eagles

The Green Bobcats will square off against the Fairview Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Green is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Green needed a bit of extra time to put away Clay. They won by a run and slipped past the Panthers 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won six in a row.

Jonathan Knapp made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Mason Neal was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Noah McMackin, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Fairview fell victim to Boyd County and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 9-0 to the Lions. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Green's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Fairview, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-10.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Green has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Fairview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
