Basketball Recap: Rib Lake Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Rib Lake won the last time they faced Newman and things went their way on Friday too. The Rib Lake Redmen came out on top against the Newman Fighting Cardinals by a score of 63-53. Given the Redmen's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while the Fighting Cardinals are ranked 434th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rib Lake pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points over those games. As for Newman, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.

Rib Lake wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 82-70 victory against Colby on the 10th. As for Newman, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-43 defeat against Columbus Catholic on the 10th.
