Basketball Game Preview: Bell Eagles vs. Maywood Academy Nighthawks

The Bell Eagles and the Maywood Academy Nighthawks will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday without much rest having both just played. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Bell is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took a 63-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Legacy. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Maywood Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. The match between them and San Gabriel didn't end well, with Maywood Academy falling 58-40. The game marked the Nighthawks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Bell will need focus on slowing down Rodrigo Miranda, one of several Maywood Academy players who made an impact when they last played. He posted seven points in addition to eight assists and six rebounds. Miranda is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last 11 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Fernando Payan, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards.

Maywood Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Bell, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
