Basketball Recap: Willits Takes a Loss

After soaring to 55 points the game before, Willits was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They were dealt a 72-30 loss at the hands of the Sonoma Academy Coyotes.

Willits lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Damian Reiter, who posted two points and 12 boards. Reiter has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jayden Schlegel, who scored eight points.

Even though they lost, Willits smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Willits' defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-10. As for Sonoma Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Willits didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 45-33 win against Technology on the 21st. Sonoma Academy has also already played their next game, a 58-57 victory against Credo on the 21st.
