Basketball Recap: Whitehall Vikings vs. Mona Shores Sailors

The Whitehall Vikings put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They pulled ahead with a 59-58 photo finish over Mona Shores. Given Whitehall's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Sailors are ranked 75th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Whitehall to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kyle Stratton, who scored 15 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stratton has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Camden Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 20 rebounds.

Whitehall pushed their record up to 15-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Mona Shores, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whitehall will take on the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Covenant Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups. As for Mona Shores, they will play host again and welcome the Rockets, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Reeths-Puffer is coming into the game hot, having won their last ten games.
