Basketball Game Preview: Waterford Wildcats vs. Marietta Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Wildcats take on the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Waterford comes in on ten and Marietta on 20.

On Saturday, Waterford beat Williamstown 40-33.

Fairland typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Marietta proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Dragons by a score of 61-48. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Dragons are ranked 40th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Waterford's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points over those games. As for Marietta, their record now sits at 20-0.

Waterford came up short against Marietta when the teams last played back in January of 2021, falling 61-52. Can Waterford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
