Two dominant signal callers in Kelvin Perkins and Rod Lucas are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Southwind Jaguars will be playing at home against the Arlington Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Southwind's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
Last Thursday, Southwind made easy work of Germantown and carried off a 34-8 victory. Considering the Jaguars have won nine games by more than 20 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Southwind relied on the efforts of Chad Rooks, who rushed for 117 yards on only six carries, and Jontae Alexander, who picked up 59 receiving yards and one score. Those 117 rushing yards gave Rooks a new career-high. Tray Moore made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Southwind was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 329 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Germantown only rushed for 155.
Southwind's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. It was truly a group effort as Charles Sullins, A'Marriyon Coleman, and Roosevelt Bates picked up two apiece. Southwind got some further help from Eryion Johnson: he made 12 total tackles and defended two passes.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Arlington faced off against Bartlett on Thursday. The Tigers took a hard 28-14 fall against the Panthers. The Tigers have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Southwind pushed their record up to 10-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 3.6 points on average over those games. As for Arlington, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Southwind has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 223 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Arlington struggles in that department as they've been averaging 159.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Southwind came up short against Arlington in their previous meeting back in September of 2018, falling 33-20. Thankfully for the Jaguars, Kenneth Walker (who rushed for 139 yards and a pair of TDs, and also picked up 58 receiving yards and one touchdown) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
