Recap: Red Lake Warriors vs. Deer River Warriors
The Red Lake Warriors waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They enjoyed a cozy 87-72 victory over Deer River. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Gerald Kingbird jr, who almost dropped a triple-double on 29 points, nine rebounds, and 11 assists. Kingbird jr is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tyrone Beaulieu Jr, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Red Lake's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 98.8 points per game. As for Deer River, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
Red Lake will head out on the road to take on Blackduck at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Blackduck will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings (they are ranked 383rd, while Red Lake is ranked 115th). As for Deer River, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Mountain Iron-Buhl at 7:15 p.m. on January 25th.
