Softball Recap: Bishop Kearney Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

Bishop Kearney won the last time they faced Aquinas Institute and things went their way on Monday too. The Kings put the hurt on the Little Irish with a sharp 13-2 win. Considering the Kings have won three matchups by more than ten runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Carmella Phelan made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sara Skripnik, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Dyanni Rivera was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Bishop Kearney always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aquinas Institute only posted an OBP of .300.

Bishop Kearney's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Aquinas Institute, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
