Basketball Game Preview: Tomball Memorial Wildcats vs. Klein Oak Panthers

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Tomball Memorial Wildcats face off against the Klein Oak Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday... Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Tomball Memorial is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 58 points on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Klein on Friday. They fell to the Bearkats 26-20. The contest marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Klein Oak entered their matchup against Klein on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Klein Oak took a 39-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Klein. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Bearkats are ranked 94th).

Tomball Memorial will have to keep a close watch on Maci Mote and Kiana Vega, a pair of players who had a big impact on Klein Oak's prior game. Mote posted 12 points and three steals, while Vega earned nine points and three steals.

Tomball Memorial's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 24-6. As for Klein Oak, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-13.

Things could have been worse for Tomball Memorial, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-35 loss to Klein Oak in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Klein Oak's Clarah Obenofunde, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds.
