Basketball Game Preview: Centura Centurions vs. Centennial Broncos

Centura is 0-4 against Centennial since January of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Centura Centurions will face off against the Centennial Broncos at 7:30 p.m.

Centura is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Doniphan-Trumbull, falling 60-36.

Meanwhile, Centennial posted their biggest victory since February 6, 2024 on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Shelby-Rising City as Centennial made off with a 52-29 win. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Huskies are ranked 208th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Centura better keep an eye on Devin Slawnyk. He was instrumental in Centennial's win, putting up 23 points. The game was Slawnyk's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Camden Winkelman, who posted ten points.

Centennial's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.6 points per game. As for Centura, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Centura might still be hurting after the 59-36 loss they got from Centennial in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Centura avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
