Baseball Recap: Gilbert Takes a Loss

Gilbert was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the San Luis Sidewinders.

Ryan Eggerling was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, Will Bates made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as he's now launched at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Gilbert's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9-1. As for San Luis, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Gilbert will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mountain Pointe at 11:00 a.m. on March 22nd. As for San Luis, they will take on Perry at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Perry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5 runs per game this season.
