Football Recap: Bloomington North Falls to Mooresville in First Game of Season

Bloomington North unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 28-14 bruising from the Mooresville Pioneers on Friday. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 30-27 to the Pioneers when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Although Bloomington North took the loss, they still got scores from Luke Freel and Nathan Walker.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mooresville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Connor Cruz, who threw for 127 yards and three TDs. The dominant performance also gave Cruz a new career-high in rushing yards (19).

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bloomington North will welcome Bedford North Lawrence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mooresville, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Terre Haute North Vigo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
