Volleyball Recap: Burbank Triumphs

Burbank took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Johnson, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Burbank skirted past Johnson 3-2. This was payback for the Titans, who suffered a 3-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Burbank had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-27, 25-14, 25-17, 18-16.

Sergio Pulido went supernova, getting 15 digs and ten aces. Those 15 digs gave him a new career-high. Jonhabic Her was another key player, getting 18 assists and six aces.

Pulido wasn't the only good server: Burbank was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 22 aces. They served seven more aces than Johnson's also-impressive total of 15.

Despite the loss, Johnson still got an impressive performance from Jayden Yang, who had six aces and five digs.

Burbank has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Johnson's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-2.

Burbank has already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Florin on the 14th. As for Johnson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Armijo on the 14th.
