Softball Game Preview: Kenosha Tremper Trojans vs. South Milwaukee Rockets

The Kenosha Tremper Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the South Milwaukee Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Kenosha Tremper is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

Kenosha Tremper came out on top against Racine Horlick on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Trojans blew past the Rebels 12-1.

Kenosha Tremper got a great performance from Hannah Holmes as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Holmes has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Vivian Meier was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Camille Sporer, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Kenosha Tremper always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, South Milwaukee has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.87 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Indian Trail. The Rockets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Amber Helgren was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

Kenosha Tremper's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for South Milwaukee, their loss dropped their record down to 12-3.
