Volleyball Recap: Cristo Rey Starts Season with Victory Against Monarch

Cristo Rey had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They won by a set and slipped past the Monarch Royals 3-2. The win was some much needed relief for Cristo Rey as it spelled an end to their 11-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Cristo Rey was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 13-25, 25-18, 20-25, 25-16, 16-14.

Monarch now has a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cristo Rey will challenge Tri-City Christian at 6:00 p.m. on March 25th. As for Monarch, they will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against High Tech CV at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give Monarch their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
