Westland is 0-7 against Westerville Central since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Westland Cougars will look to defend their home court against the Westerville Central Warhawks at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Westland came into Tuesday's game having lost ten straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They claimed a resounding 82-46 win over Logan at home. Westland's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Westland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Noah T. kershaw led the charge by scoring 23 points along with five steals. T. kershaw hasn't dropped below 17 points for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Phoenix Funderburke, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine assists.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Westerville Central ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Lincoln 65-63. The win was some much needed relief for Westerville Central as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Westland's win ended a 16-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-14. As for Westerville Central, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7.
Things could have been worse for Westland, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 77-60 loss to Westerville Central in their previous matchup back in January.
