Lawrence North extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 6-11. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lawrence Central Bears. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.
Tessa Kramer put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Kramer was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Kramer wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Petra Burton, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
As for Lawrence Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games.
Like Lawrence North, Lawrence Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Eliana Luter. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). With that strong performance, Luter is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last four games she's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tru Cunningham, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Isis Duszynski was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Looking ahead, Lawrence North will challenge Indianapolis Lutheran at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Saints have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for Lawrence Central, they will square off against Park Tudor at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.5 runs per game on average), something the Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of.
