Volleyball Recap: Hershey Victorious

Hershey's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top against the Bridgeport Bulldogs by a score of 2-0. The Panthers were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Bulldogs, so the Panthers were just returning the favor.

While Hershey won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-22.

Ryleigh Melvin paced Hershey's offense, picking up five kills. Melvin got some help from Demi Damoude and her 11 assists. Finally, Melvin was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high two blocks.

Bridgeport's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ella Schluterbusch, who had 15 digs and two assists, and Avery Schneider, who had four digs and one block. Schluterbusch has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last seven times she's played.

Hershey now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Bridgeport, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Coincidentally, Hershey and Bridgeport will both be playing Gothenburg the next time they take the court. The Bulldogs will head out to face the Swedes at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Panthers will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
