Softball Game Preview: Antioch Sequoits vs. Yorkville Foxes

The Antioch Sequoits will venture away from home to square off against the Yorkville Foxes at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Antioch gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Wauconda with a sharp 15-8 win. The Sequoits' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Yorkville got themselves on the board against Neuqua Valley on Wednesday, but Neuqua Valley never followed suit. They blew past the Wildcats 14-0. The matchup marked the Foxes' most dominant victory of the season so far.

The team relied heavily on Kayla Kersting, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Isla Eidsness was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

The win made it two in a row for Yorkville and bumps their season record up to 6-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Antioch, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Antioch came out on top in a nail-biter against Yorkville when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sequoits since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
