Basketball Recap: R.J. Reynolds Drops Season-High Score on Glenn

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask R.J. Reynolds). They blew past the Glenn Bobcats 82-58 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Demons also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

R.J. Reynolds had a senior duo take command as Andreas Kazakos went 7 for 10 on his way to 20 points and seven assists and Grant Burns went 7 of 17 on his way to 18 points and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kazakos has scored all season. Tommy Elrod was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

R.J. Reynolds was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zyire Murphy, who posted 16 points along with seven boards and four steals. Murphy is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendrick Hines, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 boards.

R.J. Reynolds' win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Glenn, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-8.

R.J. Reynolds and Glenn could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. R.J. Reynolds (ranked 362nd) will meet East Forsyth (ranked 147th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Glenn (ranked 399th) will meet Mount Tabor (ranked 32nd) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
