Scotland came tearing into Wednesday's contest with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Latta Vikings by a score of 4-1.

Avery Stutts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Marissa Smith, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Dawson Blue, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Scotland's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. As for Latta, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-2.

Scotland and Latta should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in their respective state rankings. The Fighting Scots will take on Union Pines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (12 vs. 114). Meanwhile, Latta (ranked 16th) will meet Carvers Bay (ranked 180th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
