Softball Recap: Western Albemarle Comes Up Short

Western Albemarle lost against Monticello back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Warriors fell 7-4 to the Mustangs. The game marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Aniyah Sims was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run. Jillie Clark also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Western Albemarle's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Monticello, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-1.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Western Albemarle will square off against rival Louisa County at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Monticello is set to challenge their familiar foe Orange County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mustangs 1.3, the Fighting Hornets 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
