Baseball Recap: Papillion-LaVista South Comes Up Short

Papillion-LaVista South extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 22-8 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Millard North Mustangs. The match marked the first time this year in which the Titans were not able to get on the board.

Papillion-LaVista South got a good showing from Jackson Willer, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Willer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Papillion-LaVista South saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grant Gilbreath, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

As for Millard North, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-10. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch.

On Millard North's side, the result came thanks to Noah Gartner's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks.

Papillion-LaVista South does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Millard North, they will be playing at home against Lincoln North Star at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
