Soccer Game Preview: Sandburg vs. Bradley-Bourbonnais

The Sandburg Eagles will challenge the Bradley-Bourbonnais Boilermakers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Sandburg's offense. They lost 4-0 to Lincoln-Way Central on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Sandburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 90th, while Lincoln-Way Central are ranked 26th).

Meanwhile, Bradley-Bourbonnais kept a clean sheet against Homewood-Flossmoor on Tuesday. They blew past the Vikings 6-0. Bradley-Bourbonnais might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by three goals or more this season.

They hit Homewood-Flossmoor with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Gaudalupe Valadez (3), Sebastian Sadulla, Bennett Dykstra, and Parker Fouts.

Sandburg has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Bradley-Bourbonnais, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 11-8.

Sandburg came out on top in a nail-biter against Bradley-Bourbonnais in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Boilermakers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
