Basketball Recap: University Takes a Loss

University was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took an 82-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Steubenville Big Red. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Big Red apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2019.

Steubenville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aiden Davis led the charge by going 6 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points in addition to five assists and five boards. The contest was Davis' seventh in a row with at least 16 points. Santino Haney was another key player, dropping a double-double with 16 points and 11 assists.

University's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Steubenville, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.

University will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Robert C. Byrd at 7:30 p.m. on February 21st. As for Steubenville, they and River will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played.
