Basketball Game Preview: Clearfield Falcons vs. Spanish Fork Dons

The Clearfield Falcons will challenge the Spanish Fork Dons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Clearfield made off with a 36-35 victory over Viewmont. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Clearfield can attribute much of their success to McKinlee Philpott, who went 6-for-7 to rack up 12 points, and Brighton Bernards, who posted eight points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Philpott a new career-high in points. Bailey Hoover was another key player, putting up five points and five boards.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Spanish Fork rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-46 victory over the Wildcats.

Clearfield pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points over those games. As for Spanish Fork, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-20.
