Baseball Recap: Sam Standley Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Hemphill

Warren had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 21-run drubbing they dealt Hemphill on Thursday. The Warren Warriors' pitchers stepped up to hand the Hemphill Hornets a 21-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Warriors also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Easton Evans was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Evans was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Sam Standley was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Kolbyn Bennett was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Warren's record is now 2-0. As for Hemphill, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
