Baseball Recap: Northern Lehigh Wins Going Away Against Lehighton

Northern Lehigh hadn't done well against Lehighton recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 10-3 victory. The game was the first time the Bulldogs have beaten the Indians on their field since April 5, 2016.

Braedon Dougherty was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Coy Daubert, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Northern Lehigh kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.6.

Northern Lehigh's win bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Lehighton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.

Northern Lehigh will be playing in front of their home fans against Jim Thorpe at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Olympians have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Lehighton, they will head out on the road to square off against Executive Education Academy Charter School at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
