Baseball Recap: Schuylkill Valley Gets the Win

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Schuylkill Valley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pine Grove Cardinals, sneaking past 13-11. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 6-3 victory the Cardinals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Tristan Goda and Alex Aletras did most of the damage at the plate: Goda went 4-for-6 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Aletras went 2-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave Goda a new career-high. Brody DeJesus was another key player, going 1-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Schuylkill Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Schuylkill Valley's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-6. As for Pine Grove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.

Looking ahead, Schuylkill Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Kutztown at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pine Grove, they will venture away from home to challenge Tamaqua at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
