Recap: East Jessamine Jaguars vs. Mercer County Titans
The East Jessamine Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 64-40 defeat at the hands of Mercer County. East Jessamine was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-13.
Ak Drakeford was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with five steals for Mercer County. The matchup was Drakeford's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Sara Dunn was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
East Jessamine's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Mercer County, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Jessamine will challenge Lincoln County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mercer County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Bourbon County at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Bourbon County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Mercer County is ranked 84th).
