Volleyball Recap: Trego Comes Up Short

Trego was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 2-0 to the Phillipsburg Panthers. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

While Trego ultimately came up short, they really made Phillipsburg work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-17.

Bailey Ziegler paced Trego's offense, picking up seven kills. Ziegler got some help from Maura Albers and her nine assists. Ziegler was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Trego's loss dropped their record down to 11-18. As for Phillipsburg, their win bumped their record up to 13-18.

Trego has already played their next match (against Wheatland-Grinnell), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Phillipsburg, they are taking a road trip to challenge Great Bend at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Great Bend will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Phillipsburg surely won't give up without a fight.
