Softball Game Preview: Broadneck Bruins vs. Glen Burnie Gophers

The Broadneck Bruins are taking a road trip to square off against the Glen Burnie Gophers at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Broadneck took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Easton 4-3.

Rylan Crisafulli spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 17 Ks. Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aliceanna Weibley, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Abby Favazza also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Glen Burnie narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Atholton 8-7.

The victory got Glen Burnie back to even at 1-1. As for Broadneck, the win got them back to even at 2-2-1.

Broadneck skirted past Glen Burnie 2-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will Broadneck repeat their success, or does Glen Burnie has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
