Baseball Game Preview: Passaic County Tech Bulldogs vs. Passaic Indians

The Passaic County Tech Bulldogs will challenge the Passaic Indians at 10:30 a.m. on Monday. Neither Passaic County Tech nor Passaic posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Passaic County Tech is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Union City just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Soaring Eagles. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Passaic, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Bergen Tech 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Indians have posted since May 17, 2024.

Angel Mora tossed a big game, not allowing a single hit and allowing only one earned run while striking out 11 over 6.2 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Franklin Pena was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Passaic is undefeated when Pena posts two or more stolen bases, but 0-5 otherwise. Andy Rodriguez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Passaic's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Passaic County Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.

Passaic County Tech couldn't quite get it done against Passaic in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
