Volleyball Recap: Elida Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Elida and Defiance, and Defiance kept the tradition alive. Elida fell just short of Defiance by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. Elida hasn't had much luck with Defiance recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Elida took Defiance into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking eight-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 24-26, 19-25, 25-20, 15-7.

Tilly Henderson paced Elida's offense, picking up 12 kills. Henderson got some help from Addysen Sneary and her 22 assists. Sneary was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Elida's defeat dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Defiance, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 9-14.

Elida does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Defiance, they will be taking part in a tournament against Shawnee at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Indians will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
