Basketball Game Preview: Stevens Falcons vs. Sotomayor WILDCATS

The Stevens Falcons will square off against the Sotomayor WILDCATS at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Stevens has now lost 12 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since November 8.

Last Friday, Stevens took a blow against Warren, falling 87-17. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1300th, while the Warriors are ranked 147th).

Meanwhile, Sotomayor made easy work of Holmes on Friday and carried off a 59-37 victory. The WILDCATS have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 22 points or more this season.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Jordan Pete and Crystal Aragon. Pete had a great game and almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. Meanwhile, Aragon did her best for the losing side, putting up six points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Sotomayor's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Stevens, their loss dropped their record down to 1-17.

Stevens was dealt a bruising 74-36 defeat at the hands of Sotomayor in their previous meeting back in January. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Stevens was down 45-17.
