Northland Prep Academy was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Pinon on Tuesday. The Spartans put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 15-4 win. Considering the Spartans have won five contests by more than ten runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ryliegh LaFave made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Northland Prep Academy got a massive performance out of Aliyah Gabrys, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Lauren Frate, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Northland Prep Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Pinon, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
