Summit came tearing into Monday's matchup with 15 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Union Farmers a 12-0 shutout. Considering the Hilltoppers have won 12 games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Kate Shin made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chloe Jacobson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Blythe Hellings was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Summit hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.

Summit's victory bumped their record up to 18-3. As for Union, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Summit will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Farmers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
