Basketball Recap: Skyline - Gila River Comes Up Short

The matchup between Skyline - Gila River and BASIS - Mesa on Monday hardly resembled the 34-5 effort from their previous meeting. Skyline - Gila River fell 58-50 to BASIS - Mesa. Skyline - Gila River was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as BASIS - Mesa apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

BASIS - Mesa's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joey Frivaldo, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine steals. What's more, Frivaldo racked up eight assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Omari Hester was another key player, going 6-for-13 to rack up 15 points and eight steals.

Skyline - Gila River's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for BASIS - Mesa, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Skyline - Gila River and Telesis Prep will compete for holiday cheer at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. BASIS - Mesa will take on Berean Academy in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
