Softball Recap: Juarez-Lincoln Comes Up Short

If Juarez-Lincoln was riding high fresh off their 19-1 takedown of Martin last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Juarez-Lincoln fell just short of the Palmview Lobos by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Huskies have suffered since April 19, 2024.

Natalie Gonzalez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sarai Gomez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

Juarez-Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Palmview, they pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Juarez-Lincoln will welcome Cigarroa at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Juarez-Lincoln is facing Cigarroa at the right time seeing as Cigarroa is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
