Softball Recap: John Battle's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

John Battle dropped their record down to 11-9 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Lee Generals by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Trojans couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Lee, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games.

For Lee's part, Avery Weston made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Weston has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chloe Bledoe, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs. Another player making a difference was Addie Taylor, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

As of now, neither John Battle nor Lee have any future games scheduled.
