Baseball Game Preview: Florida Christian Patriots vs. Southridge Spartans

The Florida Christian Patriots will venture away from home to face off against the Southridge Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Florida Christian will be strutting in after a victory while Southridge will be coming in after a loss.

Florida Christian was handed a six-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Hialeah Educational Academy 3-2. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Biggie recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Florida Christian got a great performance from Jacob Lopez as he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Adrian Diaz, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Southridge's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 4-0 to Columbus, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Explorers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Florida Christian's record now sits at 8-5. As for Southridge, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Florida Christian couldn't quite finish off Southridge when the teams last played back in March of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can Florida Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
