Basketball Game Preview: Douglas Eagles vs. Guntersville Wildcats

Douglas is 0-10 against Guntersville since December of 2014 but things could change on Friday. The Douglas Eagles will take on the Guntersville Wildcats in a tournament on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Douglas was able to grind out a solid win over Boaz, taking the game 70-63. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Meanwhile, Guntersville came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Rams, posting a 71-24 victory. That 47 point margin sets a new team best for the Wildcats this season.

Douglas is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.2 points per game. As for Guntersville, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.

Douglas took a serious blow against Guntersville when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 79-41. Can Douglas avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
