Preview: Greeley West Spartans vs. Longmont Trojans
Greeley West is 0-5 against Longmont since February of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Greeley West Spartans will head out on the road to take on the Longmont Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Greeley West is no doubt hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Greeley West fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Greeley Central on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 70-68. Greeley West has not had much luck with Greeley Central recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Greeley West had strong showings from Andrew Zepeda, who scored 25 points, and River Ortiz, who scored 22 points. Jacob Flores was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, Longmont beat Holy Family 49-42 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Longmont.
Greeley West has been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-18 record this season. As for Longmont, their victory bumped their record up to 13-7.
Greeley West was taken down by Longmont 69-32 in their previous matchup back in January. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Greeley West was down 38-9.
