Fort Bend Hightower is a perfect 7-0 against Fort Bend Bush since February of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Fort Bend Hightower will host Fort Bend Bush at 6:00 p.m. Fort Bend Hightower is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Fort Bend Hightower didn't have quite enough to beat Fort Bend Travis and fell 6-5.
Kourtney Jones-Caldwell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Yates, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Fort Bend Bush and Fort Bend Clements, and Fort Bend Bush kept the tradition alive. Fort Bend Bush sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-11 victory over Fort Bend Clements on Saturday.
Kiersten Kyle made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Kyle was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Dakota Maldonado was a standout: she scored three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kalee Willis, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Fort Bend Bush kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Fort Bend Bush pushed their record up to 7-5-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing seven strikeouts in those games compared to only four in the others. As for Fort Bend Hightower, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-3-2.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fort Bend Hightower hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Fort Bend Bush struggles in that department as they've averaged .401. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
